"The Whimsical Forms of the Sea"
Presenting Artist: Diane Sahlin
Training Date: Tuesday April 29, 2014 7-9pm
Children will learn about Pacific NW glass artist Dale Chihuly and his Seaforms Series. They will apply color to heat-sensitive sheeting to create their own "Whimsical Forms of the Sea". Docents will then "form" the sheeting into desired shapes using heat to represent the art of glass blowing. The concept of color to create a "whimsical feel" will be explored.
Learning Goals:

Artist profile of Pacific NW artist Dale Chihuly
History of glass art in the US and Pacific NW
Work with shrink sheeting and heat to create irregular forms resembling sea forms
