Project Descriptions for 2009 - 2010

"Building a Foundation"

Training Date: Tues. October 5, 2009 7-9pm
EALRs: The Arts 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2,1, 3.3, 4.2, 4.4, 4.5

In this project, students will learn about the basic elements of architecture, and then they will draw a building using the elements they learned about.


"Plans in Perspective"

Training Date: Tues. January 6, 2010 7-9pm
EALRs: The Arts 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 3.2, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5

This project will teach a perspective drawing technique, and will end with a guided drawing lesson.


"The Finishing Touches"

Training Date: March 2, 2010 7-9pm
EALRs: The Arts 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 3.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5

In this project, students will explore the ways in which designers finish buildings with decorative and functional elements, and then create a gargoyle out of clay to take home.


"Putting It All Together"

Training Date: April 27, 2010 7-9pm
EALRs: The Arts 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 3.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5

The Watts Towers in Los Angeles are an outstanding example of found-object art and architecture that push us to think about what architecture is and how it's related to other forms of art. Students will create their own models based on the style of this unique work.
