"Gustav Klimt Birch Trees"
Artist: Jeffrey Waters

Training Dates:
Tuesday September 25, 2018 / 7:00-9:00pm / Harbor Heights Elementary School
Wednesday September 26, 2018 / 7:00-9:00pm / Minter Creek Elementary School

Based on the work of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, students will learn to create their own Klimt inspired "Forrest of Birch Trees."
Learning Goals:
       
  • History of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt    
  • Shading and creating texture through paint layering    
  • Watercolor techniques / foreground, background, depth

"The Nature of Repousse"
Artist: Lisa Bosselmann

Training Dates:
Tuesday November 27, 2018 / 7:00-9:00pm / Harbor Heights Elementary School
Wednesday November 28, 2018 / 7:00-9:00pm / Minter Creek Elementary School

In this project, Students will learn basic metalworking techniques by embossing designs from nature onto a soft metal.
Learning Goals:
       
  • Understand the history and culture behind the Repousse technique that has been used around the world    
  • Basic metal tooling/embossing techniques

"Under The Sea By Me"
Artist: Hannah Jay

Training Dates:
Tuesday February 5, 2019 / 7:00-9:00pm / Harbor Heights Elementary School
Wednesday February 6, 2019 / 7:00-9:00pm / Minter Creek Elementary School

Students will create a crayon resist watercolor masterpiece focusing on the partnership of students and the local waters of Puget Sound. Focus will be on creative imaging and how it relates to watercolor painting with an emphasis on watercolor technique, puddle painting and paint movement.

"The Magic of Marionettes"
Artist: Whitney Stange / Ashley Ashton

Training Dates:
Tuesday April 2, 2019 / 7:00-9:00pm / Harbor Heights Elementary School
Wednesday April 3, 2019 / 7:00-9:00pm / Minter Creek Elementary School

In this project students will explore the history of the art of puppetry and conceptualize, design and create their own rod puppet using a variety of materials. Students will be guided to identify which colors tell their story and learn basic puppetry skills allowing them to bring their puppets to life.
