Founded in 2003 by concerned parents and local artists,
Peninsula Hands On Art serves approximately 4,000 students in grades K-5 in the greater Gig Harbor area. Each year,
Peninsula Hands On Art provides educational art experiences, specifically designed by
Peninsula Hands On Art to introduce a variety of mixed media and historical concepts.
Students are provided with artist quality materials and step by step film instruction from our guest artist while guided through the process of making each project in the classroom. Parents and community members are encouraged to participate and afterward each student has an original piece of art to take home or display in the school and a greater understanding of visual arts in culture and history as well as the enjoyment and reward of the creative process.
Peninsula Hands On Art is a non-profit arts organization funded by donations and run by the tireless effort of hundreds of volunteers. It enjoys widespread respect and popularity among teachers, students, parents, and members of the broader community. We are passionate about our mission and the impact we are making on the students we serve; we maintain high standards and strive to provide lessons and artistic experiences of exceptional quality. We feel that, in this age of shrinking school budgets and disappearing publicly-funded arts programs, we are providing a vital piece of education that might otherwise be lost to these children.
Any and all donations are always appreciated and welcomed! Please contact us at: peninsulahandsonart@gmail.com.
