This lesson will explore the life and work of Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. Students will create
their own Hokusai Wave using oil pastels. Project will focus on shading techniques and warm and cool

"Collagraph Printmaking"

Students will learn about the history of Collagraph Printmaking. They will design a nature inspired
collage art piece using a variety of textures and create their unique design on a printing plate and will
then use water based block printing ink to transfer their image via artist quality printmaking rollers. They
will transfer the design onto paper via the relief technique for a spectacular frame worthy inspired
project.

Alberto Giacometti expressed transparent presence in his work. Students will learn about the importance
of "gesture" when sculpting. They will create their own Giacometti influenced stick figure in wire and
learn traditional concepts of positive and negative shapes and suspending line in three dimensions.
